Today reminds me so much of Hawaii. I feel like I'm sitting in the park in Honolulu. It is simply georgeous! Even the cigarette smoke wafting over to me reminds me of HI. (people like to smoke on the beach) Allow me to illucidate on today... It is around 82 degrees, sunny with a breeze. I'm sitting in the Quad of West Chester University with the sun at my back. There are only wisps of clouds above that litter the baby blue sky. The grass around me is verdant with small patches of buttercups sprouting here and there. Although most trees are not showing leaves yet, the pear blossoms are jubilant in their white glory. As people pass by me, flip-flops clacking, I hear snippets of cell phone conversations and the chit-chat of friends as they make their way to or from class. I wonder if it bothers them that my dress is being blown into a pile at my knee? or if they even notice me, sitting here in solitude? Someone has joined me now, she is also sitting with her back to the sun. ...

Easter Weekend

God has been working on my heart recently. It started on Good Friday. It's not the most comfortable thing, to have God convict and change my heart, but it is much needed. Kind-of neat that He chose to work on me intensely over the Easter holiday. That is what Easter is all about. Jesus came to make heart transformation possible.

The faith of Job

" I came naked from my mother's womb, and I will be stripped of everything when I die. The Lord gave me everything I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord!" Job 1:21 (NLT)This week I was reminded of the goodness of God through the life of one of my good friends. She has seen some hard times. I first met her a couple years ago at church, she was living with her mom then, and began to struggle financially, her mom is now living under the state's care due to some mental concerns. My friend has had some health issues as well, making it hard to keep up with work and school. Back when things were really going wrong for her, I heard people talking about how some of what she was going through was brought on by herself. -Of course this was untrue- but as humans we often can't handle suffering without trying to explain it away.As I got to closer to my friend, things got worse, I remember thinking, " God, why have you blessed some with much an...
