Road Trip
Last weekend, I took a road trip. Well, not by myself of-course, Jason, Ashley and I all went together. Our destination: The Pennington Family reunion at Levi Jackson State Park in London, Kentucky.
On the way to the reunion, we stopped for a visit with Grandma, Aunt Natalie, Uncle Joey, Halee, Emalee, Aunt Bobbi, and Dylan in Lexington. And then made the hour and a half hop over to London early the next morning.
The Reunion began with a big breakfast, complete with pancakes, eggs, biscuits, pork tenderloin, and Aunt Lou's homemade rhubarb jam.
After breakfast, Mom, Ash and I went over to Aunt Debbie's to visit with Arlene, Darlene, Darlene's grandbaby, Gary, Lindsey, Jill, Cody and Matt. We were even able to say hello to Uncle Mike and Josh.
Back at the reunion in the afternoon, Jason and I,along with a few of Great Uncle Julian's grandkids, scoped out the cabins we would be staying in, and I spent some time chatting with some distant relatives about their adorable puppies. They had two scottish terriers and a shitsu.
After the traditional barbeque and lots of chatting, J. and I hit the camp bathhouse and snuggled into the spacious bunk-house for the night.
It was nice to be the only ones on site the next morning when we awoke, and after opening up the meeting room, we took a walk to scope out the park. I think I walked through, a million spider webs, but the morning was beautiful, and Jason and I were both impressed with the mill-stone display out by the old mill.
After our traditional family worship, Jason and Ash and I loaded up the car and said goodbye. Even with leaving before lunch, we still barely made it home by 1:00 am.
It was a good trip, and a pleasant drive. (Next time I will not forget the CD case:)
Some highlights: Reading the manuscript of ancestry showing my great grandmother's indian descent.
40 miles per gallon between cincinati and pittsburgh.
Chatting with my Grandpa Pennington about Coumadin and Vitamin K's effects on the body.
The morning fog covering the river valley, and the road, between Lexington and Corbin.
