Holiday blessings

God is so good.
He is all sufficient and provides bountifully for me. I am grateful.
This is my first official week off of School, and Yes, I have done some baking and have some to do. One wonderful, beautiful blessing of the holidays is baking!
Jason and I have also spent some quality time walking and talking. I am not as speedy a walker now that I have a little baby in there, and I get hungry and have to stop for a snack, but it has been a beautiful time of getting back in touch with J. and with Jesus.
It's pretty humbling to step back, take a deep breath and evaluate myself through the lens of the all-sufficient savior. Usually I keep myself too busy to worry about these things, but during quiet times, I stop and realize that He is all powerful, all knowing, and yet, I am still here. It's pretty amazing!

Catoctin Mountain Park, Thurmont MD

I'm back, after a long break. I wanted to share this awesome park with you. Catoctin Mountain Park in Thurmont, Maryland. Located right off of Route 15 this park is just down the Highway from Gettysburg and is worth the trip! The park offers hiking for various skill levels and is free admission. The kids had a lovely time creek walking along the Blue Blazes Whiskey Still trail, which is accessible from the visitor center parking lot. They were all able to become junior rangers as well. The visitor center has a history and nature display. I've never seen a beaver that close, even if it was stuffed, it was cool!  Catoctin Mountain park borders Cunningham falls state park . Lewis and Clark

It began with our being half-way through the book on the Louisiana purchase on the last day of school. Our interest was peaked and I hated to skip the books about Lewis and Clark that we did not have time to read during last school year, so... The book about the Louisiana Purchase is titled: What's the Deal Jefferson and Napoleon and the Louisiana Purchase , by Rhoda Blumberg. I would classify this book as a textbook. We read it in small portions each day. Then we read a few chapter books about Lewis and Clark and some of the other characters in the Corps of Discovery, namely, Seaman, Meriweather Lewis' Newfoundland dog.
