Mom against Toddler
Round 1: (ding!)
Mom: You need to poop in the potty before naptime today
Toddler: throws a few fits over silly things and gets a little out of control
Mom: Ok, you need to take a nap now.
30 mins later: Toddler at top of stairs with messy diaper.
Mom: changes diaper
Toddler wins round 1

Round 2: (ding)
Mom: Ok, now we don't poop our diaper during naptime, it's time to take a rest.
30 mins later: Toddler at top of stairs with another messy diaper his bed totally stripped of all pillows and blankets and sheets (a big NO NO!)
Mom: This is not OK! Punishes toddler, changes diaper and puts toddler back into bed.
Toddler: doesn't sleep at all during the last few minutes of naptime
Toddler wins round 2

Round 3: (ding)
Mom: It's time for a bath for toddler and baby!
Toddler: behaves like a charm in the bathtub. All smiles
Mom wins round 3

Round 4: (ding)
Mom: Eat your vegetables
Toddler: I want Yogurt!
Mom: Eat your vegetables first
Toddler: Eats vegetables
Mom wins round 4

Round 5:
Mom: doing dishes,
Toddler: Playing with Daddy. Dad decides toddler needs an early bedtime and reads bedtime stories and puts toddler to bed.

Mom is the ultimate winner!!! (Mom has a secret weapon, Daddy:)

HA HA Can't win em all! :) I still can't get Cadi to eat finger foods except bananas and pancakes other than that we'd sit there ALL DAY!!!

Catoctin Mountain Park, Thurmont MD

I'm back, after a long break. I wanted to share this awesome park with you. Catoctin Mountain Park in Thurmont, Maryland. Located right off of Route 15 this park is just down the Highway from Gettysburg and is worth the trip! The park offers hiking for various skill levels and is free admission. The kids had a lovely time creek walking along the Blue Blazes Whiskey Still trail, which is accessible from the visitor center parking lot. They were all able to become junior rangers as well. The visitor center has a history and nature display. I've never seen a beaver that close, even if it was stuffed, it was cool!  Catoctin Mountain park borders Cunningham falls state park . Cunningham falls state park charges a small fee for parking, but has great hiking,- yes to a waterfall- a playground/picnic area by the lake; it is really lovely.  Before I end this post, I must share a picture book recommendation.  We enjoyed The Wild Woods, by Simon James this week. Lewis and Clark

It began with our being half-way through the book on the Louisiana purchase on the last day of school. Our interest was peaked and I hated to skip the books about Lewis and Clark that we did not have time to read during last school year, so... The book about the Louisiana Purchase is titled: What's the Deal Jefferson and Napoleon and the Louisiana Purchase , by Rhoda Blumberg. I would classify this book as a textbook. We read it in small portions each day. Then we read a few chapter books about Lewis and Clark and some of the other characters in the Corps of Discovery, namely, Seaman, Meriweather Lewis' Newfoundland dog.
