Colorado Balloon Classic

Labor Day weekend Colorado Springs hosts the Colorado Balloon Classic. Not exactly Albuquerque, but still the biggest balloon festival in the Rocky Mtn. region and Colorado. It was amazing! We got the kids out of the house before 7:00 am Saturday and headed down to the park. We drove around looking for parking as the first of the balloons began to inflate. After parking a few blocks away, we saw the first balloons lift off and soar overhead. Nearing the lake, we realized some of the balloons were touching down on the surface of the water and then taking off again. The kids were amazed by the big balloons and I couldn't take my eyes off of them. I took over one hundred pictures of the event. After about an hour, all of the balloons had lifted off and the park was set up like a big block party. Tristan enjoyed some inflatables while Ana and I enjoyed the live band. Then the Airforce Academy hosted a few parachute jumps. It was such a cool morning.
