Sprouted Wheat

What started as a school project became my favorite food for last week. Sprouted wheat. I enjoyed the flavor and texture of the germinated, and then sprouted wheat. Once the wheat fully sprouted into little green shoots it tasted a lot like vegetable sprouts, but before the green shoots, the flavor is nice, nutty and mild. I enjoyed the wheat on fruit salad with yogurt and mixed into oatmeal. I topped vegetable salad with the sprouts and also enjoyed them with brown rice and grilled shrimp and veggies. I ended up having to throw some away because they sprouted like gangbusters and a quarter cup of wheat berries filled the mason jar with sprouts. The experiment was a huge success and the kids and I enjoyed watching this wheat that we usually mill into flour sprout and grow. I also enjoyed eating the sprouts. I would recommend this, it's easy and tasty!,
