Penn State/Daniel Boone's Homestead/Jason's Birthday

The last few weekends have been spent with our families. Two Saturdays ago we attended a Penn State baseball game out in State College, PA with Steve, Lynn and Becky. Gwendolyn came along and enjoyed some special time as the only little one. Tristan and Ana enjoyed playing at Grandma's. It was a beautiful day, though windy. We enjoyed the baseball, the creamery and visited the improved Lion Shrine.  This past weekend Nana and Poppy came up for a visit. Friday night we stayed up to mid-night to see UK beat Louisville in the March Madness. Awesome! Saturday we visited Daniel Boone's homestead. I didn't know what to expect, and I'm not a history buff, but I was blown away. This is a really neat place. The cabin where Daniel Boone was born has become the addition to a large stone home built by a later owner of the property, however, Daniel Boone's story is still central to the homestead tour. I enjoyed learning about Daniel Boone's childhood here in rural (at that time) PA  because I am somewhat familiar with his KY exploits and vividly remember visiting Boonesboro, KY as a kid. I also really enjoyed the property, there are trails throughout with a working blacksmith shop, lumber mill and livestock. We patted the small herd of sheep roaming free near the visitor center. It was a rainy, cold day and that cut our visit a little short. I plan to return and visit the property where Daniel Boone began his lifetime of exploration. Saturday evening we enjoyed engineering the largest hot wheels track ever! We used all of our track and the force of gravity to propel the cars through.  Sunday, another rainy day, was Jason's birthday. His family came over for dinner and cake and some animal charades. We've enjoyed our time with everyone. Here are a few pics. as I tried to capture the memories.
