A Wonderful Week in Williamsburg
Last week we enjoyed a family vacation in Williamsburg, VA with grandparents, aunts, an uncle and our littlest niece. It was a great time. We learned heaps about colonial life and our nation's history; and we enjoyed the time with family. I wish I could put all of our experiences into this post, but that's impossible. Even a summary of the week would make for a long post. I will simply say that Gwen's vocabulary expanded by a word a day at least. She now has a "horsey" named "baa-aaa" and greets us each day with "morning!". Tristan wears a tri-cornered hat wherever he goes, which makes for interesting conversation in the check-out line at the grocery! Anastasia loved doting on her baby cousin and managed to work her way deeper into each of our hearts. She is such a clever girl, and a sweetie.
The children loved Charlton's Coffeehouse, especially the liquid chocolate. They enjoyed learning about the rare breeds living in Colonial Williamsburg and they participated in the archaeological dig for kids. They enjoyed chatting with the Milliner (in her shop) and General Knox (on the street), and they shared a fascinated terror of the public gaol.
The highlight of their week was the day we spent at Busch Gardens. All of the adults were shocked that Tristan and Ana loved every ride they got on and were willing to wait in line patiently. The teacups were by far their favorite, but they enjoyed the whole day of rides and shows. It is neat to see how much they've grown in just a few months. (When we took them to Hershey park this winter, they were quite scared of the rides.)
All in all it was a great time.
