Visit with Mom and Dad

This past weekend my Mom and Dad came to see us. We had a blast! It was a short visit, but we packed in The Garden of the Gods, Golfing (for the guys), Skype with the Aussies, a birthday party and that was all just the first day! Day two we visited Montville Castle, had lunch in Manitou Springs and the me and Dad rode the COG to the top of Pikes Peak. After dinner we played a game of 4 man scrabble and watched the Olympics. Sunday we went to church and lunch and had to say goodbye. It was a good trip. Looking forward already to when we'll visit again. Sad to see the Olympics over. My Mom gave me a little insight into why I am so obsessed with the Olympic games. She said that the year I was born she was in the hospital with me during the Olympics. She remebers watching the first ever Women's marathon. She proceeded to tell me the story of Gabriela Andersen-Schiess who almost died of heat exhaustion on the track finishing 37th. As my mom shared her vivid memories of the race, I began to understand my undying fascination with the games. As Jason Bourne would say, "this is where it all started for me" I was an Olympic fan from birth. Awesome!
