Everyone's a critic
Last night I had mixed reviews on my grilled salmon and veggies dinner. Anastasia loved the rice (with applesauce) and ate some salmon and veggies and both kids enjoyed the baby spinach and mango salad. Mango is just so good! However, Tristan did not like the salmon! From the moment I brought it in from the grill he was voicing his very strong opinions. His first comment: "It smells like the zoo!" He proceeded to tell us that it tasted like "goat", it tasted "yucky" and it "doesn't smell good". I was laughing so hard! The truth is... it really did smell like the zoo. Pretty spot on comparison by the little man. With my crowd, I don't think Salmon will go on our regular dinner rotation, but sometimes I just make meals that I want to eat and everyone else just has to bear it. It's tough, I feel that especially with food, everyone's a critic.
In other news, we met some nice animals at the library yesterday. It was a lovely surprise. Snakes, tortoises, a sugar glider, tenrecs (small hedgehogs), mice, oversized beetles and a huge newt. Tristan looked and looked, and then he actually touched some of them! I'm so proud of him. Anastasia was interested in the animals, but more interested in her usual pulling every book in her reach off of the shelf! It was a cool day at the library.
