smoke in the air

This morning we awoke to the heavy odor of smoke. Smelled like someone was smoking their thanksgiving turkey. I knew that it wasn't. We are unsure where the fire is at this point. The fire maps were last updated around midnight (not long after we went to bed). We are still feeling fairly safe, Jason plans to work today as normal, however, every afternoon as the temperatures reach into the high nineties, low one hundreds the fire spreads in the wind. With how close it was to us last night, we are ready to evacuate if it comes to that today. The smoke is clearing and I can see the foothills and Pikes Peak, this only means that the wind is blowing due east. We are slightly north east of the fires, so it will be an interesting day. We are praying that the chance thunderstorms projected for tonight will bring some rain. We'll wait and see.
